Tonight I Met Jesus

What is the bottom line of this Backpacker DTS mission? To know God and make him known. Sounds simple, right? It is :)

Let me share a story. Last weekend we sent the students out on a 'Luke 10' weekend. The idea is to send out teams of three students to hitch hike around the island, with little money  and their mission is to bless people. It's an optional activity, but they all signed up. They spend four days off base and serving. If you read Luke 10, it's all about Jesus sending out the disciples in pairs to pray, preach the gospel and heal. There were many amazing stories that came out of this last weekend. But this is the one I want to share.

One of the groups went to a church on the west coast to serve. While there, they met two girls from China who are traveling around New Zealand. They are new believers and are still searching (one girl especially). Well these Chinese girls meet these students and are amazed, they had not yet met young Christians their age. Everyone in the NZ church was 60+. They had many questions for them about faith and the students got to share more of Jesus with them. They wanted to come visit the YWAM school, so they came out a few days later to stay. While here they joined one of the girls' small groups where they asked more questions of faith. Then the girls prayed and prophesied over them. They were really touched. That night, we had our school commissioning. This is a night where we pray for the outreach teams and send them out with blessings! We worship, we anoint and we get words for them all. During this time, the one Chinese girl who is still really searching God starts crying and praying out. She encounters God and the Holy Spirit. She said basically that "I made a head decision to Jesus a few weeks ago but tonight I met Jesus!" And wow are the Chinese believers full on for God. We had been praying over the students for revival, healings, salvations and Gods's Spirit to be moving on outreach. And He has already started!! This all came from some students sharing Jesus, inviting them home with hospitality and loving them. God did the rest; He softened their hearts and saved them. Praise God!!
